About

Started in 2011 under the name Tech Pau Hana, the Kona Science Café is a series of presentations and other events designed to educate and build community amongst people interested in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Presentations are held monthly, often on the fourth Monday of the month, are free, and open to anyone. They span a broad range of topics, from unmanned aerial vehicles, to marine bacteria, to intellectual property protection. Most are related to Hawaii Island in one way or other. The atmosphere is informal, and the audience is encouraged to ask questions.

After the presentation, there is time to ask questions of the presenter and meet fellow attendees over refreshments.

If you would like to receive emailed announcements of upcoming Kona Science Café events and other science- and technology-related items a couple times a month, sign up here.

We are always looking for new presenters. If you have someone you would like to hear from or a topic you would like to hear about, or if you are interested in making a presentation, contact Rod Hinman via the link below.
