About the Island Science Lecture Series

The Island Science Lecture Series is a collaboration between the Hawaii Keiki Museum, Startup Hawaiʻi, and the Kona Science Cafe thanks to the generous support of the Hawai’i Tourism Authority. Through a series of events, visitors and residents will be encouraged to “go beyond the beaches” and explore Hawaiʻi Island’s living laboratory of unique and diverse geographies and climates.

Experience the spirit of aloha, and venture into the world of science and innovation as we showcase the remarkable achievements of local pioneers in various fields. From astronomy to agriculture, witness how our island's innovators have made a global impact and contributed to the advancement of knowledge. Whether you're a local resident or a curious traveler, these lectures are a gateway to discover the thriving ecosystems that call our island their home, and gain a deeper understanding of the delicate balance between nature and human impact.

Events will take place once a month, starting July 2023 and running through December 2023. Events will focus on exploring the science, engineering, technology, and cultural aspects of Hawaiʻi Island. The Lecture Series will facilitate critical and meaningful interactions, collaboration, and networking across the scientific, business, and visitor communities.

Join us in celebrating the uniqueness and brilliance of Hawaiʻi Island.
